KLEE Exam 2025- Registration, Fees, Eligibility, Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Kerala Law Entrance Examination (KLEE) is an entrance test conducted for admission of candidates to the law colleges of Kerala for law courses. However, the exam for LLM courses is conducted separately, known as KLEE LLM.
This KLEE exam is conducted for admission to BA LLB, BBA LLB, BSc LLB, BCom LLB, and LLM courses

Commissioner of Entrance Exams (CEE) of Kerala regulates the Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) for admission to Kerala’s private, government, and self-financing law universities. The entrance test is held online in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode at various assessment communities.

REGISTRATION PROCESS & FEES:

- For KLEE, Online registration can be done by first registering themselves by clicking on registration Tab available on the official portal available for KLEE (cee.kerala.org.) exam after that application form is to be filled, required documents are to be submitted and lastly payment of registration fees.
- For the registration process candidates are required to provide their personal information, correct e-mail address, phone number etc. and after that candidate have to click on the ‘CONFIRM’ button for the submission of application.
- For the filling of application form the candidate first have to enter the registered ID & password ad then have to select three centres for the examination as per their convenience and then lastly, they have to submit the required documents.
- Documents required for Application process are– Candidate’s Photograph & Signature, Relevant Certificate for P.W.D Candidates, Domicile Certificate, Candidate’s ID verification proof such as Aadhar card and PAN card, Certificate to indicate the age of the applicant, such as passport/10th standard mark sheets, Caste/Category certificate.
- Application Fee for GENERAL & SEBC is Rs. 650 and for SC & ST is Rs. 325.
- An admit card is issued to the candidates on the prescribed date once they fill the application form and register themselves without any irregularities, and this admit card to be carried for sitting in the examination.
ELIGIBILITY:
- There is no upper age limit for KLEE exam.
- For 5-year Integrated law program- Minimum of 45% marks are requisite for General, 42% marks for SEBC and a Minimum of 40% marks are requisite for SC & ST categories, in the qualifying exam.
- For 3-year law program– Minimum of 45% marks are requisite for General, 42% marks for SEBC and a Minimum of 40% marks are requisite for SC & ST categories, in the qualifying exam.
- For Postgraduation (LLM) program– Minimum of 50% marks are requisite in the qualifying exam.
- NOTE– Candidates appearing in qualifying examination and in LLB Final year examination are also eligible for KLEE. Such candidate will be given admission if he/she submits the qualification certificates and documents at the time of seat allotment.
- Candidates holding Indian citizenship can apply, however, to enjoy benefits of reservation, one needs to have an origin of Kerala.
EXAM PATTERN:
For 5- Year & 3- Year Law Program:

- Exam to be conducted in online mode.
- Duration for KLEE exam is 2 hours/ 120minutes.
- Exam to be conducted in English language.
- Questions come in a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) format.
- The paper consists of 200 questions in total.
- The paper contains 4 sections, that are as follows-
- Arithmetic and Mental Ability– This section contains 25 questions to which 75 marks allotted.
- General Knowledge– This section contains 45 questions to which 135 marks allotted.
- General English– This section contains 60 questions to which 180 marks allotted.
- Aptitude for Legal Studies– This section contains 70 questions to which 210 marks allotted.
- Each question contains 3 marks and 1 mark to be deducted for every wrong answer.
For Postgraduation (LLM) Program:
- Exam to be conducted in offline mode, for 2 hours. And the paper consists of 200 questions divided into 2 parts:
- Part A consists of 4 subjects which are as follows-
Law of Contract, Law of Crimes, Constitutional Law & Jurisprudence.
Each subject contains 25 questions to which 75 marks are allotted.
- Part B consists of 6 subjects which are as follows-
Interpretation of Statutes & Law of Torts contains 10 questions and 30 marks each.
Law of Property, Public International Law, Company Law & Administrative Law consist 20 questions and 60 marks each.
- Each question contains 3 marks and 1 mark to be deducted for every wrong answer.
SYLLABUS:
- Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) covers topics like English Language, Arithmetic and Mental Ability, Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Quantitative Aptitude, General English & Law subjects (for LLM).

- Legal reasoning section is added in order to test the general awareness of candidates on legal and moral issues.
- General knowledge section requires awareness on current affairs, art and culture and other international matters.
- Reasoning section requires the candidates to critically analyse the reasoning and draw upon the conclusions to answer the questions.
- English language section requires the comprehension and language skills of the candidates and to read and summarise the passage and lastly answer the questions based on it.
- Mental Ability section is added in order to check the capacity and ability of candidates to solve the quizzes and mathematics problems in less time and with great efficiency.
