
KLEE Exam 2025- Registration, Fees, Eligibility, Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Kerala Law Entrance Examination (KLEE) is an entrance test conducted for admission of candidates to the law colleges of Kerala for law courses. However, the exam for LLM courses is undertaken separately, known as KLEE LLM.
This KLEE exam is conducted for admission to BA LLB, BBA LLB, BSc LLB, BCom LLB, and LLM courses.

Commissioner of Entrance Exams (CEE) of Kerala regulates the Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) for admission to Kerala’s private, government, and self-financing law universities. REGISTRATION PROCESS & FEES:
- For KLEE, Online registration can be done first by clicking on the registration Tab available on the official portal for the KLEE (cee.kerala.org.) exam. The application form is to be filled out, the required documents are to be submitted, and the registration fees must be paid.
- For registration, candidates must provide their personal information, correct e-mail address, phone number, etc., and then click the ‘CONFIRM’ button for the application submission.
- To fill out the application form, the candidate must first enter their registered ID & password and then select three centers for the examination at their convenience. Lastly, they have to submit the required documents.
- Documents required for the Application process are the candidate’s Photograph & Signature, Relevant Certificate for P.W.D Candidates, Domicile Certificate, Candidate’s ID verification proof such as an Aadhar card and PAN card, and a Certificate to indicate the age of the applicant, such as passport/10th standard mark sheets, Caste/Category certificate.
- The application fee for GENERAL & SEBC is Rs. 650, and for SC & ST, it is Rs. 325.
- An admit card is issued to the candidates on the prescribed date once they fill out the application form and register themselves without any irregularities, and this admit card is to be carried for sitting in the examination.
ELIGIBILITY:
- There is no upper age limit for the KLEE exam.
- For a 5-year Integrated law program- A minimum of 45% marks are requisite for General, 42% for SEBC, and a Minimum of 40% marks are requisite for SC & ST categories in the qualifying exam.
- For a 3-year law program, a minimum of 45% marks are required for General, 42% for SEBC, and 40% for SC & ST categories in the qualifying exam.
- For the Postgraduation (LLM) program, a minimum of 50% marks is required for the qualifying exam.
- NOTE– Candidates appearing in the qualifying and LLB Final year examinations are also eligible for KLEE. Such candidates will be admitted if they submit the qualification certificates and documents at the time of seat allotment.
- Candidates holding Indian citizenship can apply; however, to enjoy reservation benefits, one needs to have an origin in Kerala.
EXAM PATTERN:
For 5- Year & 3- Year Law Program:
- Exam to be conducted in online mode.
- Duration for KLEE exam is 2 hours/ 120minutes.
- Exam to be conducted in English language.
- Questions come in a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) format.
- The paper consists of 200 questions in total.
- The paper contains four sections, which are as follows-
- Arithmetic and Mental Ability– This section includes 25 questions, of which 75 marks are allotted.
- General Knowledge– This section consists of 45 questions to which 135 marks are allotted.
- General English– This section consists of 60 questions, of which 180 marks are allotted.
- Aptitude for Legal Studies– This section contains 70 questions, of which 210 marks are allotted.
- Each question includes three marks, and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
For Postgraduation (LLM) Program:
- The exam is to be conducted offline for 2 hours. The paper consists of 200 questions divided into two parts:
- Part A consists of 4 subjects, which are as follows-
Law of Contract, Law of Crimes, Constitutional Law & Jurisprudence.
Each subject contains 25 questions, to which 75 marks are allotted.
- Part B consists of 6 subjects, which are as follows-
Interpretation of Statutes & Law of Torts contains 10 questions and 30 marks each.
Law of Property, Public International Law, Company Law & Administrative Law consist of 20 questions and 60 marks each.
- Each question contains three marks, and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
SYLLABUS:
- The Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) covers English Language, Arithmetic and Mental Ability, Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Quantitative Aptitude, General English, & Law subjects (for LLM).
- The legal reasoning section is added to test candidates’ general awareness of legal and moral issues.
- The general knowledge section requires awareness of current affairs, art and culture, and other international matters.
- The reasoning section requires the candidates to critically analyze the reasoning and draw upon the conclusions to answer the questions.
- English language section requires the comprehension and language skills of the candidates to read and summarise the passage and, lastly, answer the questions based on it.
